Eastern Connecticut State University’s Campus Activity Board (CAB) kicked off the spring semester with Welcome Back Week. From Jan. 19-23, students attended a variety of in-person and virtual events, ranging from ice skating to a "welcome back" brunch.
Kicking off the week by celebrating National Popcorn Day, “Get Poppin' with CAB" allowed students to celebrate the first day of classes while enjoying popcorn and taking photos. Following the first event, a virtual QR scavenger hunt continued throughout the week in an effort to get students to explore campus.
During the first weekend back on campus, CAB hosted three major events for students. On Friday night, “CAB Makes a Deal” allowed students to participate in an interactive game show in the Betty Tipton Room. Prizes included gift baskets, speakers, Chartwells Cash and a television.
On Saturday, Ice Skating with CAB took place at the Fine Art Instructional Center Patio. Both skates and hot chocolate were provided. On Sunday, CAB hosted back-to-back brunch concerts at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Students reserved spots and enjoyed brunch foods and live music from the duo group Sawyer.
CAB works throughout the academic year to unite the campus community and involve the University with the surrounding area. Adapting to COVID-19 restrictions, CAB has spent the past two years working to find appropriate events to keep students and staff safe. Combining virtual and in-person events, students have been able to find activities each week that meet their interests.
