In the next seven years, accounting is projected to be among the top 20 occupations with the most job growth in America, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. To meet this demand, Eastern Connecticut State University now offers a master’s degree program in accounting. Summer classes begin June 29, and there is still time to enroll. If enrolling on June 29 is not possible, Eastern’s rolling admissions allows students to start the program at the beginning of any semester; the fall semester starts on Aug. 31.

Completion of the master’s program will qualify and prepare students for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) exam. Through flexible scheduling, degrees can be earned in one year. At less than $500 per credit, the program is affordable in comparison to master’s degree offerings from other Connecticut universities. Scholarships, assistantships and on-campus housing are available as well.                                    

“We are pleased to bring back our master’s degree in accounting—in a totally new configuration,” said Eastern Provost Rhona Free. “With the flexibility of evening, weekend and online courses, students can complete the 30-credit degree in one year. This is an affordable way for people with a bachelor’s degree in accounting to meet the eligibility requirements and prepare for their CPA exam. And our accounting faculty have a well-earned reputation in Connecticut for their knowledge and teaching ability.”
Taught by seasoned faculty at Eastern’s small, liberal arts campus, the master’s program covers taxation, auditing, business finance and other topics in the field of accounting. Classes are taught in small groups, with excellent access to faculty and campus facilities.
