Prerequisites and Corequisites

A prerequisite means a course or other requirement that a student must have taken prior to enrolling in a specific course.

A corequisite means a course or other requirement that a student must take at the same time as another courser or requirement.

 When students register for courses using eWeb, the computer system will check for the pre- or corequisite required for the course they have selected. The system will check courses completed or in progress at Eastern, and transferred courses taken at other colleges that have been officially recorded on the Eastern record.

If the student does not have the required pre- or corequisite recorded or in progress the student will not be able to sign up for the course and will get an error message. If a student believes that they have the appropriate pre-or corequisite but receives the error message, they should email registrar@easternct.edu.  Students who wish to take the course without having satisfied the pre- or corequisite must obtain approval of both the instructor and department chairperson of the course.

The pre- and corequisites for all courses can be found under the course descriptions in the eWeb schedule by clicking the CRN and then “View Catalog Entry” or just by clicking the course number in your Degree Works audit.

Students may request and pre- or corequisite override using their Eastern email and sending the following information to the instructor of the course asking for a pre- or corequisite override.:

Name, ID Number

CRN, Subject, Course, Section, Title

Instructor

Please forward your approval to the Department Chairperson and then on to registrar@easternct.edu

The Registrar’s Office will process your request and respond via Eastern email to you, the instructor, and the department chairperson once processed. Please note, if you have a hold on your account your registration will not be able to be processed.

If for some reason you are unable to access your Eastern email account, you may fill out the top section of the Registration Approval Form, print it, sign it and then email to your instructor for their approval asking that hey forward their approval to the department chairperson who would then send it to registrar@easternct.edu
