Physical Resources

As part of the Liberal Arts Curriculum and in every major program in the School of Arts and Sciences, students engage in experiential learning in classrooms and field sites that showcase the latest in technology, lab design, creativity and the diversity of environmental and historical resources in Connecticut.

Programs at Eastern's Fine Arts Instructional Center FAIC showcase the university core values of inclusion, social responsibility and global awareness, connecting to courses across departments.

The finest in classroom facilities can be found in the 174,000 sq ft Science Building (opened in October 2008), which integrates programs in mathematics, computer science, environmental earth sciences, biology, biochemistry and physical sciences in one building. Here the students can learn how to use the same type of equipment found in major research labs in Connecticut, in self-designed independent research projects or in research teams, developing the needed skills for successful careers upon graduation. For field coursework in the sciences and in the arts, students conduct investigations, experience and capture the natural beauty of the Connecticut countryside in Eastern's Arboretum Environmental Field Lab and the historical Church Farm property, donated to the university by Joe and Dorothy Zaring. Additionally, the Church Farm 1895 historical barn is used for student theatrical and musical performances.
