Two students and one faculty member from Eastern’s Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) received awards at the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Eastern District Awards this April. The awardees included physical education majors Colin Campagna and Madeleine McGee and Professor Charlie Chatterton.
McGee earned the Eastern District Outstanding Future Professionals Award, which reflects the Eastern District’s commitment to future leaders. Campagna was the recipient of the Eastern District Fellowship Program, which is given to individuals who have made important contributions in research, creative and scholarly activity.
Chatterton, who specializes in physical activity and wellness, was awarded the Linda Woods Huber Recognition Award. Each year this award is given to an individual who has used their expertise to provide services in the fields of health and physical education while demonstrating honor and dignity for the organization.
Founded in 1885, SHAPE America promotes research related to health and physical education, dance and sport. The annual convention — this year hosted virtually — welcomes more than 4,000 health and physical educators around the globe who are dedicated to helping children build and maintain an active lifestyle.
