Welcome to the School of Education and Professional Studies. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to engage students from diverse backgrounds in an accessible and transformative public liberal arts learning experience with the aim of developing lifelong learners with employability skills. Our students and graduates contribute to the economies of our communities and state across industries, small businesses, educational institutions, and government and non-profit agencies.
The Department of Education prepares Connecticut’s future educators using the best evidence-based practices. The Center for Early Childhood Education, an internationally recognized research and professional development institute, supports the preparation of early childhood educators. The College of Business hosts programs in accounting, business, business information systems, economics, finance, labor relations, and sport management. The Department of Communication, Film, and Theatre utilizes state-of-the art technologies to prepare students for a broad range of careers in media.
Our majors and minors require interdisciplinary learning that is grounded in the liberal arts. Extensive pre-preprofessional and co-curricular experiences ensure that our programs are directly contributing to the preparation of Connecticut’s workforce. Through high-impact service-learning projects across the curriculum, all our students learn the value of providing professional service to local schools, businesses, charities, and non-profit organizations in our communities.
All of this is made possible by a diverse and accomplished faculty who are passionate about our students’ learning and careers, utilize innovative teaching practices, and engage in research and continuous improvement in their disciplines.
I encourage you to browse our website and contact us if you have any questions.
