Early Childhood Education and Sociology Major

Jennifer Wolff ’12 teaches at Cook Hill Elementary School in Wallingford, Ct, in a preschool setting with children with and without special needs. “I transferred to Eastern after discovering the phenomenal opportunities available in the Center for Early Childhood Education,” she said. “My professors and the early childhood program provided me with so many ways to be involved in research, helping me to gain priceless experience in the field of education.”

Since graduating, Jennifer has obtained a master’s degree in special education with a certificate in autism spectrum disorders and is working toward her sixth-year degree in educational leadership. “I believe that with love and support, every child can grow and develop emotionally, mentally and physically to their fullest potential,” Jennifer said. “As an educator, my role is to scaffold children in building on their prior knowledge and foster a lifelong love of learning.”

As an undergraduate, Jennifer received the Early Childhood Education Scholarship from the SBM Charitable Foundation. This longstanding endowed scholarship advances the education of aspiring teachers and helped Jennifer pursue a double major in early childhood education and sociology. “Thanks to the support of the SBM Charitable Foundation, I’ve been able to better the lives of many children,” she said.
