Holmes Master's Program

Eastern Connecticut State University introduces a national partnership program for growing the state’s teaching force. The Holmes Master’s Program is designed to attract and prepare educational change agents from historically underrepresented populations. The initiative is the first of its kind within the region and reflects a partnership with the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s Holmes Scholars Program. The inaugural cohort of Holmes Master’s students enrolled in the summer of 2016, comprised of Holmes Master’s Research Assistants and Holmes Master’s Graduate Assistants.

General Requirements

  • Be a member of a historically underrepresented group within the educational enterprise at the national or state level
  • Be committed to the ideals of the Holmes Master’s Program
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity and diversity
  • Agree to participate in school-community collaborative partnership arrangements for research, service, and/or advocacy activities
  • Be a full-time matriculated graduate student in an Education field
  • Commit to a minimum of a one year term as a Holmes Master and fully participate in related mentorship activities
  • Hold a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and maintain a 3.00 GPA (Graduate Assistants) or a 3.5 GPA (Research Assistants) for all graduate coursework
  • Other requirements, as specified in the Holmes Master’s Program application

To Apply

  • Review general Holmes program expectations
  • Review the Holmes Program at Eastern flier for further details
  • Complete either a Holmes Master’s Graduate Assistantship or a Holmes Master’s Research Assistantship application
  • Submit all paperwork, including reference letters, by February 12 for priority consideration, and by July 6 for final consideration
