Health Entrance Requirements

Full Time Students

Connecticut state law requirements regarding measles (rubeola), German measles (rubella), mumps and chickenpox are strictly enforced. Students who do not submit these records will NOT be allowed to register.

  • All full time students born after December 31, 1956 must provide evidence of immunity against: Measles, German measles (rubella), and mumps. Students must show proof of two doses of MMR vaccines (measles, mumps, rubella).

  • Also, CT state law requires that all full time students, born after January 1, 1980, must provide evidence of immunity against chickenpox (varicella) either by showing proof of two doses of the varicella vaccine or documentation from your health care provider stating that you had chickenpox disease.

  • If you are unable to locate any of your immunization recordsor to prove that you have had chickenpox, you can get a blood test to determine if you are immune to any or all of these diseases.

  • Bacterial meningitis vaccination (for Neisseria meningitis types A,C, Y and W-135) is required only for full time students who live in on-campus housing; however, we recommend it for all incoming students. State law now requires that students get a another meningitis shot if they received their previous meningitis vaccine(s) more than five years before the date of they start attending college.

Tuberculosis Screening - The Connecticut State University (CSU) System requires ALL incoming students, regardless of age, to complete a Tuberculosis Risk Assessment found on the CT State University Health Form located under "required form for full time undergraduates" link below, and should be reviewed with your health care provider.

Transfer Students

Transfer students, whether full or part time, must meet the same requirements as other full or part time Eastern students respectively. Full time transfer students must complete the CSU Student Health Services Form. Part time and graduate transfer students must complete this health form. For a smoother transition to Eastern, we strongly recommend all transfer students have the immunization information they provided to their previous schools be sent (fax, mail, or scan and email) to our office.

Online Students

Students who are not attending classes on campus or in person, but instead are taking only online courses, are NOT required to complete the University's health requirements. However, should that change and you enroll in an on-campus class, you must comply with either the full or part time health requirements outlined above, whichever apply.

Any student failing to complete the above health requirements will not be allowed to register for classes.

PLEASE NOTE: A student's CSU Health Form, immunization records and all other medical records are maintained on file at the Student Health Service office for a period of seven years after the student leaves the University. They are CONFIDENTIAL health records and will NOT be released without written consent of the student.
