Fall Fest spotlights the ‘active’ in Eastern’s student activities

Students at Eastern Connecticut State University splashed, splattered and sampled entertainment and food in a week of activities at Fall Fest, which occured Sept. 18-24 and sponsored by The Office of Student Activities and Campus Activities Board (CAB).

More than 400 students attended the traditional College Campfire, named Community Campfire this year, and included music by DJ Fire, two food trucks and a mobile splatter paint room. S’mores and yard games were also part of the event, held in collaboration with the Student Government Association.

An evening with magician Jack Kelly attracted 128 students and was following by pancakes at the Thursday Knight Café. Some 364 students came to Splash with CAB, which featured inflatable bowling and a dunk tank with student leaders and staff members.

The weeklong celebration, called CABopoly this year, included promotion days where students could earn CAB Bucks to redeem at events, win t-shirts and collect other CAB giveaways. A visit to Level 99 game rooms extended the CABopoly theme off campus.

Musician Hunter Hayes performed at the Shaboo Stage in downtown Willimantic at the end of the festival, capping a week of activities with a community event.

“I had such a great time with Fall Fest 2023,” said Sadie Blackwell, special events coordinator. “CABopoly allowed students to come out and participate in an event each day, whether that was dunking our Student Activities staff in a dunk tank, enjoying food trucks or attending the Fall Festival with Hunter Hayes. It was really fulfilling to collaborate with other departments on campus and to see students engaging with them,” she said.
