Eastern Connecticut State University students celebrated the last week of spring semester classes at Spring Fest April 24-30, with a concert, fireworks display, carnival, inflatable obstacle course and other popular activities.
“Spring Fest is a great opportunity to unite the campus community with an annual event that students look forward to," said Nikki Flynn, a junior and special events coordinator for the Campus Activity Board (CAB), which organized the festive week. "This has been my favorite Spring Fest so far! It was incredibly rewarding and fulfilling to see all of our hard work pay off and create events that students loved."
Among the events were a concert featuring Zack Kindall opening for the duo The Driver Era; an e-sports lounge with four gaming stations and a “Just Dance” party; and the Aux Cord Trivia Wars, a music trivia challenge. This year’s theme was “Game On,” reflected in a game night and CABlympics featuring board games and obstacle courses on inflatables.
“Spring Fest is a traditional event that everyone looks forward to each year, and this year did not disappoint,” said Alyssa Duffy, associate director of student activities and CAB supervisor. “The positive energy and excitement that radiated throughout the campus community was evident from the start of the week and grew exponentially as we wrapped up the week with the carnival, fireworks and spring concert,” she said.
More than 1,000 people attended a carnival and fireworks on April 28, with more than 2,000 overall participating in the weekend's events.
