For the fourth time in the past five years, the Hartford Courant/FOX CT has named Eastern Connecticut State University one of the top workplaces in Connecticut. In the 2015 Top Workplaces survey, Eastern was ranked number seven in the category for “large” organizations. With 60 organizations recognized overall, Goodwin College was the only other educational institution to be named, placing eighth in the mid-sized category.
The awards were based on employee surveys conducted in March and April by Workplace Dynamics, a Pennsylvania-based firm that conducts Top Workplace programs across the country. The 22-question employee survey assessed topics such as company culture and leadership; day-to-day work and compensation; and job satisfaction and employer appreciation.
“We are honored to be recognized by two of Connecticut’s leading sources of news and information as a top workplace in Connecticut,” said Eastern President Elsa Núñez. “While Eastern was recognized in the large organization category, our campus has always prided itself on its sense of community and for being a welcoming, inclusive environment for students, their families and the community-at-large. This announcement is a wonderful reminder that Eastern is also a great workplace for our faculty and staff and I am delighted that we were among those recognized.”
Anonymous Eastern employees said of their workplace: “I have amazing colleagues who are very supportive. Eastern is a great place to work”; “I can share my knowledge/experiences with students”; and “I work in a great department where I am truly appreciated.”
