Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences!
The School of Arts and Sciences is at the heart of the liberal arts curriculum at Eastern Connecticut State University. Our 14 departments offer 21 majors and 45 minors across a wide range of disciplines, and students from all majors take courses in our departments as part of the university’s Liberal Arts Curriculum (LAC).
Our faculty place great value on connecting with and supporting students as they make discoveries in our classrooms, studios, and labs, and then apply what they learn to the world outside Eastern. As a student in the Arts and Sciences, you will with work faculty, experts in their fields, whose mentoring in undergraduate research and creative work will help you find a path to employment or graduate studies.
Our state-of-the-art facilities give you access to resources and educational experiences that will set you up for these post-Eastern successes. You can carry out research in our well-equipped labs or create your own visual or performance art in Eastern’s brand-new Fine Arts Instructional Center. In fact, as an undergraduate student at Eastern, you have access to resources and undergraduate research and creative opportunities that only graduate students might have at other institutions. Whatever your interests, there are the resources here to help you develop your talents and abilities and deepen your knowledge of your chosen field.
We are enormously proud of the transformative education in the liberal arts that we make widely accessible through our dedicated faculty and first-rate facilities. We invite you to explore our departments online, to come visit in person, or contact the Dean’s Office for more information.
