Eastern Connecticut State University hosted its annual Student Involvement Fair and President’s Picnic on Thursday, Sept. 8. The event, which included nearly 400 students in attendance, allowed for attendees to explore student-run clubs and organizations, and develop deeper ties to the Eastern community.
Seventy-six clubs and organizations tabled at the event, many with long-running connections to the Eastern student body, including club sports, service groups such as Best Buddies and Habitat for Humanity, and academic organizations such as Psychology Club and Accounting Society.
Jenfrey Florentino, Interim Assistant Director of Student Activities, witnessed clubs interacting with each other throughout the event. “We saw lots of photos being taken by students with one another; members of clubs were reaching out the entire time.”
Chartwells catered the event, featuring cuisines such as American BBQ and Mediterranean. Student Activities also sponsored an ice cream truck for the afternoon, which students flocked to.
Eastern actively works to keep students engaged, said Florentino, who is also an Eastern alumnus. “Throughout my time at Eastern there has always been an emphasis on being involved. Student Activities and Housing work to create new and exciting ways to take part in campus life. As a student, being involved is incredibly important. It’s the key part of the collegiate experience.”
Student Activities is continuing its work on cultivating an exciting campus life for students as it prepares for the annual Fall Fest. Students interested in learning more can visit, the master events calendar for upcoming events.
