Sierra Club names Eastern a 'Cool School’
“Sierra,” the magazine of the Sierra Club, the influential grassroots environmental group, has named Eastern one of “The Coolest Schools” in the nation for 2021. The magazine congratulated Eastern for its performance in its 15th annual Cool Schools ranking for the many ways the University has engaged and inspired students, faculty and staff to participate in sustainability efforts. Eastern partners in AAC&U-sponsored open educational resources project
Eastern was recently selected to participate in an Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) project to accelerate the development and adoption of open educational resources (OER) as a strategy for improving educational quality and equity. Funding for the project totals $522,757. Read story
Big Read kicks off in October with program centered around ‘The Best We Could Do’
Eastern is one of 61 organizations nationwide selected to receive a 2021-22 Big Read grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The grant will support a community reading program centered around "The Best We Could Do" by Thi Bui. From October 2021 until January 2022, Eastern will host a series of events related to the book and its subject matter. Visit website
Balcerski’s presidential presentations reach audiences nationwide
Thomas Balcerski, associate professor of history, a highly acclaimed presidential historian and media contributor, has a number of speaking engagements scheduled this academic year at institutions nationwide. Several of them happened this past September. Read story
Sierra Colon named one of 16 'Coalition for College' ambassadors
Sierra Colon, an Eastern admissions counselor, is one of 16 admissions professionals in the inaugural Coalition Ambassador program of the Coalition for College. The ambassadors are from Coalition for College member institutions and will collaborate on nationally coordinated and regionally impactful college access work. Read story
