The Business Information Systems minor (BIS Minor) focuses on how information systems are used to improve organizational performance and help employees be more efficient and effective through transforming business processes and automating tasks. The minor’s flexibility offers students the relevant biz-tech skill sets needed to match the rapidly evolving data and information system driven processes and decision making increasingly being leveraged in a vastly expanding wide range of disciplines and industries.
By taking the relevant BIS minor electives to match their academic and career paths, students can acquire the information systems, project management and data skills most relevant to their career interests. Thus, it is relevant to students entering fields such as Accounting, Business Administration, Communication, Computer Science, Digital Art, Economics, Finance, Health Science, International Business, Management, Marketing, New Media, and Operations and more.
The BIS minor requires 18 credits and is suitable for any Eastern student, including transfer and non-traditional students. At least four of the courses below should be taken at Eastern.
