The Barbara C. Daring Endowed Scholarship was created through the generous donation of Dr. Steve A. Watts Jr., who launched the scholarship to assist English majors with a concentration in English literature. The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Barbara C. Daring, who taught English at Bennett Junior HS in Manchester, E. O. Smith HS in Mansfield and the English Department at UConn. Mrs. Daring and her husband Douglas were friends for decades with Dr. Watts and his late wife Lee, a Spanish/Spanish Literature Professor who chaired Eastern’s Classical & Modern Languages Department for many years.
